GORE-TEX PRODUCT with PFCec FREE DWR: 3-layer polyester twill fabric (164 g/sq.m). Very soft to the touch, developed to provide extreme comfort. Excellent waterproofing (28,000 mm water column), breathability (RET < 9) and water-repellent properties, it dries quickly and is easy to clean. It offers excellent abrasion resistance and is guaranteed to be permanently waterproof. The special PFCec FREE DWR finish ensures the absence of fluorinated compounds that are harmful to the environment.

Secondary texture
PFC FREE CLOTHING. Traditional waterproof jackets repel water using synthetic compounds known as PFCs (perfluorocarbons). PFCs have been used for many years as Durable Water Repellent (DWR) coatings, surface treatments for outdoor clothing, equipment and footwear. This coating helps waterproof materials to repel water and impurities. Without this invisible shield, water and dirt would pass through the layers, creating a wet and damp feeling and drastically reducing comfort. The chemical bond formed between the fluorine and carbon found in PFCs is one of the strongest chemical bonds known to date: this is why PFCs do not degrade quickly in the environment. Traces of them have been found in animals and in humans also. This problem, concerning the accumulation of this compound in humans and the environment, can cause various repercussions on the health of people and the ecosystem and this has been the reason for many discussions between environmental groups and outdoor clothing companies. A key element in the persistence of PFCs in the environment is the length of their chemical structure, or the number of carbon atoms within the structure. Historically, the outdoor clothing industries have used long-chain structured PFCs (referred to as "C8"). In response to concerns about the environmental impact of PFCs, leading chemical manufacturers have developed shorter chain compounds (for example, C6), which may be less persistent. Montura has replaced the DWR used in its entire outdoor clothing and footwear collection with the safer C6 compound. That said, DWR C6 may still be dangerous for the environment and most companies, Montura included, are committed to finding healthier alternatives for the ecosystem: for this reason, DWR PFC FREE treatments have been developed. All outdoor brands are aware that DWR alternatives without PFCs do not have the same durability and performance as the previous C6 and C8 treatments. Montura has selected the highest-performing PFC Free DWR versions available today for its products. PFC free* clothing is intentionally made with materials free from water-repellent treatments based on PFC compounds (perfluorocarbons). The outshell fabrics are treated with an eco-compatible water-repellent coating that is PFC-free: this coating is a plant-based, non-fluorinated fabric treatment for durable water repellency and is manufactured with 60 percent renewable raw materials. * The product may contain traces.
