Pioneers, adventurers, Verbier obsessives

From small beginnings…

Mountain Air first came to be when Simon Glasgow and Rod Williams joined forces with Peter Pauling to take over a tiny Verbier rental outfit called Jan Sport in 1980. Over time the shop grew. Nick Hammond came into the business in 1989 and was key to the evolution. Expanding into a bigger space, Mountain Air started selling clothing for the first time in 1990 and began to develop its world-famous Bootfitting system into what it is today.

…. to Active Lifestyle Store

In 2013 the shop moved into its current space, expanding from 250 m2 to 2400 m2 of floorspace. Offering a total lifestyle experience from Athleisure through to safety equipment, all under one roof.
While it now occupies a much bigger space than the founders could have imagined, Mountain Air still stands for the same ideals it started with. Our loyal customers coming back year after year because they know we have the expertise to show them what they need.

Our team is here to help you

“Verbier is simply a great ski area. Add that I happen to have the best job on snow and that I have convinced my Austrian girlfriend to join me here. There’s no reason to leave!!”
Biggest achievement: New Zealand Interski Team in Argentina 2015. BASI level 4 examiner. (My racing achievements are barred by a statute of limitations.)

Emilien Badoux

Freeride Snowboarder
“Verbier is the most famous resort in Switzerland for freeriding. The legend of Bec des Rosses attracted me every winter for challenging my self with that gnarly mountain. Since 2012 I’m Verbier 4 Vallee Ambassador and now I moved here for some love reason. It is the best choice which I have ever did. Living 5 min a way from gondola allowed me to be almost every day in mountains breathing pure energy.”

I shred the untouched mountains with my skis (freeskiing)
Born and raised in Verbier by my Swedish parents. The mountains, as well as skiing, have played major roles in my life from the beginning. As a kid, I did a lot of alpine racing but quickly realized that was not what skiing was about. I am now 19 years old, and have competed 3 years on the Junior freeride Tour and last season on the Freeride World Qualifier.
Biggest achievement: Qualifying To the Freeride World Tour my first year on the qualifiers. Thanks to two first places and a 3rd.

I shred the untouched mountains with my skis (freeskiing)
I’m very passionate about all things mountain but skis and bikes are my thing. I’ve lived in Verbier since 2009 and before that I was based in Les 2 Alpes, France. Growing up in the Peak District in Derbyshire, U.K. allowed me to ride great terrain on a bike from a young age. Mountain biking in the alps was always a dream that ended up coming true. I teach skiing in the winter and I guide on the bike in the summer.
Biggest achievement: Surviving the Mountain of Hell bike race. Racing from the top of a glacier in Les 2 Alpes @@ 3600m all the way down to 850m with 700 other people on a mass start. I finished in 148th amongst some of the best riders in the world.
