Bike and Hike Route Verbier

BIKE AND HIKE ROUTE IN VERBIER - MAY
May is a beautiful month to discover Verbier and one that often slips under the radar. The town relaxes after a busy winter and the snow line recedes, opening the mountain up for an incredible selection of biking and hiking routes. With the snow line currently sitting at around 2000m, here are two suggestions to get you out on the mountain on your e-bike or in your hiking boots.

Mountain Air is open all of May and if you have not tried an e-bike we highly recommend you come and try one from us…
Here is an intermediate route from our in house adventurer Tom Crothall.
Don’t hesitate to ask any of our experienced staff for trail advice if this does not fit your level.
This bike route from Verbier is ideal for spring as you are sure to be below the snow line. Straight out the gate you get a great descent with some technical sections (there might be a couple of corners you might want to walk but generally it is fairly flowing).
A beautiful single track through the woods out of Médran before a short technical section which brings you out onto the Route du Soleil. Then head back towards the lifts and Médières where you will find a more mellow descent on some wider single tracks (again some segments get a bit steeper, but it is only ever for a couple of turns, so don’t worry!). Eventually you pop out on Chemin du Diablay above Le Châble and you can work your way up this quiet road to Route du Soleil before climbing on up to Chez Dany and home. There are a multitude of routes and options in this area so enjoy exploring, but be aware that some are steeper than others.
Tom has pulled together a good combination of easy riding with short technical sections to keep you on your toes, find out more about Tom HERE.

HIKE
With the wild flowers starting to come out, it is the perfect time to explore the region and there is no better way than on foot. This month Lottie Pridham from Lottie Pridham Retreats recommends this beautiful intermediate hike around Verbier - perfect for when the lifts are closed.

Sports Centre > The Bisse > Marmotte > Verbier: 12 km 530m 3:30 - 4:30 hrs approx. 3/5 difficulty.
A great hike for circumnavigating the sunny mountain above Verbier. Climbing up to The Bisse (a little stream) requires a bit of stamina, but easy terrain underfoot as you begin on a track road which then leads into the forest. Travel alongside the ‘Bisse’ on a small, mostly flat, single track trail and follow this past Marlenaz restaurant (opens May 27th) to Marmotte restaurant (opens 10th of June). Then the steep descent leads you back to Verbier town with an apres stop at Le Rouge. Walking poles will help with the ascent and descent.
