Kajsa - lifestyle
Gabi - Bikes & Skis
Kajsa, the queen of lifestyle, is all about good vibes, big smiles, and effortless style!
Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from, how did you end up in Verbier?
My name is Kajsa, and I’m from Gothenburg, Sweden. Four years ago, I went on a hike with my sister and dad to celebrate his 60th birthday. We hiked the Fjällvandring Triangle in Åre, and during that trip, I realized how much I loved being in the mountains. My sister said, "Kajsa, why don’t you do a winter season?" I was 25 at the time and planning to go to Canada, but then I ran into a friend who was living in Verbier and working in the kitchen at Le Shed. He told me, "Come to Verbier, I can get you a job at the restaurant." So, I did!
How long have you been working at Mountain Air, and what do you like most about it?
I’ve been here for just over a year now, and what I love most are the incredible people I work with. They’re amazing! Plus, working with clothes, fashion, and brands is a dream come true. I’ve always been passionate about fashion and interior design, so this job aligns perfectly with my interests.
If you could only choose one item from the shop to use for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Definitely a great pair of jeans! My favorites at the moment are The Half-Pipe Flood from Mother. They’re so versatile and comfortable—you can dress them up or down, and they work for just about any occasion.
Which item in the shop do you think has the coolest name, and why?
Definitely the "Comfyballs!" I mean, I don’t have balls, but I’ve heard great things about them! The name alone gets a laugh every time!
If you had to describe your fashion style as a food, what would it be?
Spaghetti Bolognese—classic, and satisfying. It's not the most fancy, but it's always a favorite!
Do you have a signature pose when you’re trying on outfits? Show us!
I’ve been told I do a funny pose, so I guess so!
Gabi - bike & snowboard guru - shreds trails in the summer and carves powder in the winter!
Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from, how did you end up in Verbier?
My name is Gabi, and I'm from Madrid, Spain. In the summer, I work as a bike mechanic and in the bike rentals team, while in the winter, I’m part of the ski rental team. Back in 2010, I planned to spend a year in Whistler, Canada, but a friend who was already living in Verbier convinced me to try a winter season here instead. Fourteen years later, I’m still here!
How long have you been working at Mountain Air, and what do you like most about it?
I've been part of the Mountain Air team for 10 years now, and for me, the best part is diving into the world of biking every summer. There's nothing like helping people find their perfect ride and geeking out over the latest bike tech. I love the team, the shop’s vibe, and the excitement of seeing clients leave with their bikes, pumped and ready for their next adventure.
Tell us about your bike, what do you like most about it?
I ride a Commencal Meta SX 2023, and let me tell you, it's the best-looking bike in town," he says with a chuckle. "One of the things I like most is that it's super quiet! The Öhlins suspension is fantastic, and the coilover shock makes it feel really grounded and smooth. The only thing I don't like as much is the XT groupset. Personally, I prefer SRAM for the drivetrain, although I'm fine with XT for the brakes. Overall, SRAM seems to offer a better drivetrain experience for me.
Describe your biking style in three words.
Fast - without - control.
What’s the funniest customer question you’ve ever been asked while working?
Do you rent skis/ bikes?
In your opinion, who in the store would win in a survival challenge on a deserted island?
I think Jason would be the clear winner. He’s super resourceful and always finds a creative fix for any problem. His practical skills and knack for fixing things would be a huge plus on a deserted island. Plus, his ability to stay calm under pressure and think on his feet would give him the edge in a survival situation. I'm sure he would turn that island into a well-organized survival base in no time!
